Wandering Through the West of Britain

Sunday, March 14th to Thursday, March 25th, 2027

Join us for an unforgettable journey through the west of Britain, traveling from historic Salisbury and Stonehenge to the dramatic coast of Cornwall, the mountains of Wales, the Georgian beauty of Bath, and finally London.

Along the way, we will enjoy beautiful hotels, fascinating historic sites, scenic drives, time for stitching with Elizabeth, and plenty of opportunities to relax, shop, explore, and enjoy the countryside.

Sunday, March 14th

Our tour begins on Sunday, March 14, 2027. Guests should plan to arrive by late morning.

Once everyone has arrived, we will board our luxury coach and travel to Salisbury, where we will visit the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral. Dating from the 13th century, the cathedral is famous for having the tallest church spire in England and is surrounded by a beautiful historic close.

Monday, March 15th

Today we will visit Stonehenge, the world-famous prehistoric monument built in several stages between approximately 3100 BCE and 1600 BCE.

Created by Neolithic and Bronze Age communities, Stonehenge served as a sacred ceremonial site and burial place and was carefully aligned with the movements of the sun, including the summer and winter solstices.

From here, we will continue west into Cornwall, an enchanting Celtic land known for its rugged coastline, ancient legends, mythical kings, giants, and picturesque seaside towns.

We will check into the luxurious Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate, a beautiful coastal retreat overlooking Carbis Bay that hosted the G7 Summit in 2021.

We will spend four nights here, with dinner included each evening.

Tuesday, March 16th through Thursday, March 18th

Over these three days, we will enjoy a combination of stitching, sightseeing, and relaxation.

Elizabeth will teach a needlepoint class, and we will also take several excursions around Cornwall.

Our outings will include the quintessential Cornish harbor town of St Ives, where we will visit Tate St Ives, part of the Tate family of galleries.

We will also explore Penzance, Land’s End, and other beautiful locations throughout western Cornwall.

There will be plenty of time to stitch, enjoy the spectacular coastal views, make use of the hotel spa, explore at your own pace, and simply relax.

Dinner each evening will be at the hotel.

Friday, March 19th

Today we will leave Cornwall and travel north and east, eventually crossing into the Principality of Wales.

We will arrive in Cardiff, the capital and largest city in Wales, located in the southeast of the country.

We will check into our hotel in Cardiff for two nights.

Saturday, March 20th

Today we will explore Cardiff and visit Castell Coch, Welsh for “Red Castle.”

Located just outside Cardiff above the village of Tongwynlais, Castell Coch appears straight from a fairy tale.

The site was originally occupied by a medieval fortress, while the castle we see today was created during the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style by architect William Burges.

Built upon the ruins of an earlier 13th-century fortification associated with Gilbert de Clare, the present castle is a romantic interpretation of a medieval stronghold, with richly decorated interiors and an unforgettable hilltop setting.

Sunday, March 21st

Today we will enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Welsh countryside and mountains.

Our journey will include a stop in Hay-on-Wye, a famous market town in Powys near the English border.

Known around the world as one of the original “book towns,” Hay-on-Wye is home to numerous independent, secondhand, and antiquarian bookshops and is also famous for the annual Hay Festival celebrating literature and the arts.

From here, we will continue to the historic UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath, renowned for its Roman history and beautiful Georgian architecture.

We will check into the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel for three nights.

Monday, March 22nd

Today we will explore Bath, the beautiful Somerset city named for its ancient Roman-built baths.

We will tour the famous Roman Baths and enjoy a guided walking tour through the city, taking in its elegant Georgian architecture and fascinating history.

There will also be time to browse Bath’s lovely shops, restaurants, and cafés and explore the city at your leisure.

Tuesday, March 23rd

Today we will visit Dyrham Park, a beautiful 17th-century Baroque country house set within an ancient deer park near the village of Dyrham in South Gloucestershire.

Afterward, we will continue to Tetbury, a historic market town in the southern Cotswolds.

Tetbury is known for its rich history in the English wool trade, its charming streets, antique shops, and proximity to Highgrove House, the private residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

There will be time to explore this lovely Cotswold town before returning to Bath.

Wednesday, March 24th

On our final full day together, we will travel toward London, with several planned visits and stops along the way.

That evening, we will check into the Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3, conveniently located for our flights home the following day.

Thursday, March 25th

Guests return home.

Please note that this is a preliminary itinerary and is subject to slight changes.

Over the next few months, we will continue to add more details about visits, activities, and special experiences.

There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the tour to stitch, relax, shop, explore, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of England and Wales.

Single Occupancy: $8,950.00

Double / Twin Occupancy: $7,950.00

The tour price is fully inclusive of:

• Needlepoint class and project
• Dinner, bed, and breakfast
• Transportation by luxury coach
• Entry fees to castles, museums, attractions, and scheduled tours

The tour price does not include:

• Flights to and from London Heathrow Airport
• Alcohol
• Coach driver gratuity of approximately £50
• Lunches

We normally enjoy a substantial breakfast and dinner each day, with a break during the day for anyone who would like a sandwich, cake, or perhaps a traditional Cornish cream tea.

Snacks and water will also be available on the coach.
